Absolute power

Let's get down to business. Bill H.R.418, The REAL ID Act of 2005 [Link], has a sub-clause that is unthinkable. Section 102 amends the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996, and gives the Secretary of Homeland Security the ability to waive any law that s/he damn well pleases, when it relates to anything "necessary to ensure expeditious construction of the barriers and roads under this section." Also, there is a section that states that there is to be no judicial review of any action that was a direct result of the Secretary of Homeland Security waiving the laws. This is, effectivley, putting the Secretary above the law.

This is a very bad idea.

Take a look at the OMB Watch's breakdown of the bill [Link]. It's quite disturbing.

Fight the war, fuck the norm
Now I got no patience
So sick of complacence
With the D the E the F the I the A the N the C the E
Mind of a revolutionary
So clear the lane
The finger to the land of the chains
What? The land of the free?
Whoever told you that is your enemy
[Rage Against The Machine - Know your enemy]
